James Tufts VICTORIAN ART NOUVEAU Floral Silver Plate High Relief Platter # 4368

Truly stunning and highly collectible JAMES W. TUFTS silver plated bread tray or trinket dish, in the most breathtaking Art Nouveau raised sculptural relief. The scalloped edges are quite freeform and to represent a summer breeze over the wind blown poppies and there exists a subtle though fabulous stippled design surrounding the windblown'ribbon' and upon the detailed foliate. There is a nice verge on the high sides and the back is stamped "Plate guaranteed over a crest monogrammed T and James W Tufts, Boston - 4368" It is in need of a cleaning and has expected age commensurate surface scratches are present and I'm not sure if the cleaning would make the back more uniform, or if there is small loss in a few areas that will remain.

There is a bit of wobble when placed on a flat surface though this can likely be easily remedied by a jeweler or experienced metal worker. This measures about 11-3/8" across and 7" wide. The undulating sides measure about 1.25at their peak height. Thanks and have a wonderful day.
